Galgos Del Sol - Volunteering

1st Feb marked the end of hunting season in Spain and then thousands of Galgos are abandoned and killed.

Already in the past month they have rescued a record number of dogs and it is only going to get worse. Sadly some come in with injuries like broken legs etc, which costs a lot of money in vets fees.

I spent the most amazing week at the rescue last July and on 16th April 2018, I will be heading back out to help them once again.

I would like to raise funds for the ongoing vet bills that will be in their thousands as they have around 140 dogs on site.

Even a donation as little as €1 would help get me towards my goal before I head out to GDS.

You can find the link here to donate:

These are just some of the photos I took whilst volunteering last year.

This is Ronnie, he has is still at GDS. He came in with infected feet which has now healed but he has a disease called Leishmania. It is dormant but means he can only be re-homed locally. I LOVE Ronnie I cannot wait to see him again, but also sad that he has still not found his forever home since I was there last year.

This is Top Terrance. He was found dumped in the streets, whilst I was at GDS. He was maybe only about 3-4 months old, just a baby.

He had a broken leg which had started healing. He was probably thrown out as his leg had broken and was of no use to his Galguero.

He is now living the "sweet life" and has a lovely new home.

Myself and Michaela holding puppies born at GDS. Both have found loving homes.

The famous Granny Pants and Hank.

Hank was found in the streets left to die, paralysed. Here is his video along with Declan who both fought to live and are now living the sweet life.

Granny Pants was found on the streets, fending for herself, blind and dying of Leishmania. They thought she was 15 so that would probably make her 18. Who knows what her real age is but she is an absolute trooper and we love her.
